Suicide is the second leading cause of death of all people ages 15-24. LGBTQ kids are FIVE times more likely to have attempted suicide than their peers. If their parents did not accept them when they came out, they are 8 times more likely. However ONE supportive adult reduces this rate by 40%. Find out how to be that supportive adult at your school. Walk away with ideas that can literally save lives. (REGISTER HERE)

AROUND THE STATE
MEDIA STUDY
Do you teach anything related to media or media literacy in your course? If so, we’d love to talk with you in a 30-45-minutes Zoom interview
We are IMEDIA - a group of media and education professors and graduate students at the University of Illinois and Northwestern University. In 2021, the Illinois state legislature passed Public Act 102-0055 mandating a unit of instruction in media literacy in public high schools, beginning with the 2022-2023 school year.
There is not much knowledge about how media literacy is currently being taught in Illinois schools. We’re interviewing teachers on Zoom to find out where and how teachers are integrating media or media literacy in their classes.30-minute Interviews slots are available between 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on weekdays. As a thank you, you will receive a $25 Amazon gift e-card.
