A Message from the Superintendent
CORONAVIRUS
What we know today
All of us are reading and hearing about Coronavirus. This is certainly a topic that we should all be paying attention to. While so far there have been no cases reported in Arkansas or Oklahoma, it is important that we take appropriate action now so that if there were to be a case locally we would know how to minimize the possibility that it might spread, and to have a plan for what we would do if there were to be an outbreak.
What we are doing now
Alma School District is in regular contact with both Federal and Arkansas health departments and education departments, who are giving us important information and advice. We are paying careful attention to this information and advice.
We have always taken seriously the cleanliness of our buildings. We regularly clean classrooms, restrooms, corridors, and all areas where students and staff learn and work. This includes floors, desks, toilet facilities, drinking fountains, doors and all areas and surfaces that students come in contact with. Currently we have increased the intensity and frequency of this cleaning. We have also begun sanitizing all of our buildings with a product designed to kill viruses such as this. We continue to explore all options to keep our schools as clean and germ free as possible.
What we are preparing to do
If the Corona virus were to become present in our community, we will follow the advice and direction of Federal and Arkansas authorities and experts as to the best course of action. If this were to include the closing of schools for any period of time, we are currently working to prepare plans as to how we could continue to provide educational activities while students were at home.
What you can do
Wash your hands frequently.
Try not to rub your eyes or touch your face.
If you cough or sneeze, do so into your elbow, not your hand.
If you are sick, stay home.
Encourage your child to do these things.
The safety and wellbeing of our students is at the forefront of everything we do. As always, if you have any questions about this or anything else, I hope that you will contact me or the principal at your child's school.
Thank you.

Adopt-A-Professor
Automation and Robotic students went to the UAFS Robotics Lab on Thursday as part of the Adopt a Professor program. They were able to get hands-on with the robots, learned more about coding, and how these bots could be used in the real world. Randy Kent was our professor for the day and was great with our students!
