iPad Collection
iPads will be collected in the student's math class
As we end the fourth year of providing one iPad per student, Petaluma City Schools is developing plans to replace student devices at the high school level in the fall of 2019-20. Because of this, all high school iPads and charging equipment must be returned by the end of the 2018-19 school year. Students should back up any photos, videos or other projects that they would like to save from their iPad to Google Drive.
Please note that all students were issued Apple iPad charging equipment and therefore only Apple iPad charging equipment will be accepted. iPads that are returned damaged can be repaired through the coverage program. Students who do not return their iPad or charging equipment will be invoiced for the replacement cost. Please refer to the chart below for the costs of these items. The high school iPads and charging equipment will be used at other grade levels or sold to offset the cost of new devices, so it is essential that these items be returned or replaced.
Item Cost
iPad Coverage $50
iPad Replacement $350
Charger or Brick $21
Charger & Brick $42

Kolts to Casa Day
During an annual audit of district compliance with state policies and California Education Code, it was discovered that a long-standing final exams bell schedule at KJHS fell just short of the required instructional minutes for a school day by five minutes. The final exams bell schedule hasn't changed in years and this issue hadn't been flagged by prior auditors. Although the requirement for the total number of instructional minutes for the school year has been met, because that school day (December 20th) fell short of the required minimum for a single school day, the state isn't considering that day as one of the required 180 instructional days for the school year. Fortunately, there is a way to resolve the issue and for the district to able to avoid any financial penalty by offering additional instructional opportunities to students during this school year by adding a school day.
In an effort to make the most of this opportunity, we are very excited to announce an interactive student event that has been planned specifically for Kenilworth students. We have partnered with Casa Grande staff and student leadership to plan an exciting and engaging school day on Monday, June 3rd. Aptly named “Kolts to Casa Day,” we are inviting all Kenilworth students (current 7th and 8th graders) to participate in a unique event in which will include activities geared towards them on how to maximize their upcoming high school experience.
In focus group interviews with Kenilworth students over the past few years, one consistent theme we heard from each focus group was the desire to learn more about high school and have more direct interactions with both students and staff. It is our hope that "Kolts to Casa" will be a day that will better inform our current 7th graders about the high school experience and answer the myriad of questions exiting 8th graders have now that their junior high experience is officially complete.
Here's an informational Kolts to Casa Day video for the Monday, June 3rd event.
Students will have the opportunity to select three engaging activities from the list below:
Automotive engineering and repair
Physical Education
Sports Medicine
Journalism and Yearbook
