“Do you know what your child is eating from the lunch room? Is their lunch account frequently running low of funds? You can easily check on “MyPaymentsPlus” or call the Food Production at 913-780-7005 to see what your child is eating.” You can also put a block on their account only to allow the regular school lunches.

Zoom Etiquette
Parents as we have several staff members holding Zoom supports and check ins I want to remind everyone appropriate language, gestures, and screen names are expected. Violations of this will be reported and handled accordingly.

Community Food Resources
We wanted to make you aware of a change to the Food Distribution plan for providing on-the-go meal packs for students. Beginning on Monday, April 13, the food distribution site will only be open on Mondays and Wednesdays. This change comes out of an abundance of caution to families and staff members working meal delivery. Reducing the number of person-to-person contacts each week will help to keep our school communities safe and healthy. Two breakfasts and two lunches will be distributed to each child on Mondays and three breakfasts and three lunches will be distributed to each child on Wednesdays. These meal packs will be provided for students 18 and under from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at the following sites:
- Central, 305 E. Cedar Street
- Fairview, 600 N. Marion
- Havencroft, 1700 E. Sheridan Street
- Indian Creek, 15800 Indian Creek Parkway
- Northview, 900 N. Woodland Road
- Ridgeview, 1201 E. Elm Street
- Rolling Ridge, 1500 W. Elm Terrace
- Washington, 1202 N. Ridgeview Road
- Westview, 500 S. Troost Street
Children must be present to pick up a meal. This will be set up as a drive thru site as they have been in the past.
Two important notes:
- Learning packets will be available on Mondays only beginning April 13.
- The weekend back snack program for students who were already on the distribution list will be changed to Wednesdays at each of the food sites, staring on April 15. Families involved in this program will be contacted by their principal to receive more information.
The meals will be prepared and distributed under strict sanitation procedures by the district’s Food Services staff, following all food safety requirements of the Kansas Food Code plus additional protocols specifically to protect against the spread of COVID-19. Note: families will have to monitor food allergies on their own; no special food and diet restrictions will be able to be maintained at this time.
Thank you for continuing to partner with us to support our children. We appreciate your patience as we make changes to better serve our community.
Non Essential Items
I know there are many questions as to when can we gather our kids personal belongings. Right now we are in a holding pattern for non essential items until we get more direction from county and state especially with the stay at home order in place.
When we get more information, a timeline, and plan I will let you know.
Thank you,
Justin
