One of Eric's Favorite Things:
Defeating the locked cell
Suppose you are sent an Excel sheet that has locked cells and it has been password protected. Some of the functionality of those cells will not be available. In my case I was unable to use the find command or truncate the data so I had to find a way to get the data to a new unlocked cell. Coping the data from one column to another or one sheet to another didn’t work as it would copy the lock as well. The solution was to concatenate and then truncate. This fixed the problem. This is what worked. I inserted a column with the number 1 in it for every row of data. Then I concatenated it into another column. I then used =RIGHT(B3,LEN(B3)-1) to trim the 1 off the first digit, returning the string to its original form in an unlocked column.
