Alma DECA Members Awarded Award of Excellence
- Bella Nutt and Aubrey James for their work in the Buying and Merchandising Operations Research Event, Coming Together for a Cause covering BassPro/Cabela’s cause marketing strategic plans
- Kylee Lineberry and Zoe Taylor for their Public Relations Project, #EmbraceTheBelt which used project management to share awareness about distracted driving
- Josephine Meinsrdus’s Integrated Marketing Campaign-Product which was a marketing campaign for Alex and Ani
- Emily O’Kelley whose Ready for the Road Campaign covered efforts to decrease distracted driving with Alma High School students
- Elissa Williams and Colton Wormke, National Finalists, for their Entrepreneurship Promotion Project, Risky Business

Alma DECA Members Earn Emerging Leader Honors
Josephine Meinardus, Brittany Newton, Emily O’Kelley and BrayLyne White, seniors at Alma High School in Alma, Arkansas, were recently awarded the 2019 DECA Emerging Leader Honor Award. Meinardus will be attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, California this fall, majoring in Merchandise Product Development. She is the daughter of Joseph and Lucretia Meinardus. Newton is planning to attend the University of Arkansas, Fort Smith. She is the daughter of Susan Newton. O’Kelley will be attending University of Arkansas, Fort Smith this fall, majoring in Business and Marketing Education. She is the daughter of Barbara O’Kelley, White will be attending the University of Arkansas, Fort Smith, this fall majoring in International Business. She is the daughter of Mandi and Brian White. This award, given annually by DECA, an international association of marketing students, recognizes students studying marketing, finance, hospitality and management for being academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible experienced leaders through their participation in DECA. The award recipient must be a DECA member in his/her senior year of high school with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better for each of the high school semesters. DECA is a career and technical student organization composed of more than 210,000 students who are interested in entrepreneurial, marketing, finance, hospitality and management careers. DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition.
