- ATTENDANCE PHONE LINE: 208.855.4252
- Please use our attendance line to report any of your student absences or request a permit to leave!! If you get the attendance voicemail, please leave a message, as the attendance secretary checks it regularly.
- PERMIT TO LEAVE CAMPUS (PTL):
If it is necessary for a student to leave campus, they must obtain permit to leave from the attendance office. Failure to secure this permit will result in a major truancy as stated in the school handbook. In order to facilitate a student’s release, the ATTENDANCE OFFICE NEEDS AT LEASET ONE (1) HOUR NOTICE. A parent or guardian must call the attendance office prior to the student needing to leave. Notes will not be accepted. Please be advised that NO PERMITS TO LEAVE CAMPUS WILL BE MADE AND NO STUDENT WILL BE CALLED OUT OF CLASS 20 MINUTES BEFORE LUNCH AND 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE END OF THE DAY.
- If your student is marked absent in a class that they attended, please email the teacher that they were marked absent in so the teacher can change that with the attendance office. The attendance office cannot change it without the teachers approval.

Announcements
- Congratulations to Dylan Betteridge and Anisha Aum who made it as alternates to state Vocal Solo and Ensemble Festival. Both Dylan and Anisha received high superior ratings at the district level. Congratulations to Kendall Hone, Rian Genio, and Eisley Isaacs who also received superior ratings.
- Come see Image Factory’s Museum Showcase on Thurs., Mar. 10th at 7pm in the Little Theater. This show is totally interactive! You, the audience, will have to engage with the actors in different ways to start the performances. Featured areas include Historical Disasters, Mythology, Pop Culture, Artists and Paranormal/True Crime. Come learn about interesting figures from history! Admission is free!
- Ultimate Frisbee is back! After a COVID break, Ultimate Frisbee is looking for players who want to have fun and play some frisbee! If you're interested in playing, sign up in Simpson's room 119!
- The Multilingual Leadership class is hosting it's annual Change for Change Drive. Bring in your extra change from home, your car, your pockets to make a change for a child in Rwanda and Congo. We can make a difference in their lives, but we need your help!
- It is National School Breakfast Week March 7th to 11th!! Come to the Cafeteria for some yummy Breakfast items or find the breakfast cart. After you try some of these breakfast items there will be feedback forms that you can turn in to be entered in a raffle for a coffee or ice cream Gift Card!! MUST get your free breakfast to get a feedback form.
- Parking: Currently we have no available student parking spots. Students who park at CHS without a permit are at risk of receiving parking tickets. Please fill out the form online at the CHS website, so you can be put in line when a parking spot becomes available. For questions, please contact Mrs. Mortenson @ 208-855-4271
- Parents: When dropping off your students, please drop off in the student drop off area. Don't drop them off in the staff parking.
Students are allowed and encouraged to carry and self-administer a one day’s dose of over the counter (OTC) medication such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen or Tums with parental consent. Medication must be in original packaging or container and can be stored in student’s locker or backpack.
- Substitute Shortage: We are short substitutes on a daily basis, in our district, and specifically, at Centennial High School. The need ranges from half day substitutes to full day substitutes. If you are interested in being placed in our "emergency substitute pool" only at Centennial High School to help with our sub shortage, please email me at robarge.jason@westada.org
If your child needs assistance with food or personal care items, please have them contact their counselor or email cornell.amy@westada.org and we will get them started with The Pantry!
Academic Decathlon
- On Feb 24th Centennial's 2 science bowl teams competed in the western Idaho regional competition. Both teams were in the top 8 and centennials team 1 placed 3rd overall at the competition. Congratulations
Centennial Science Bowl teams!!!!!! Thank you to Carlene Rocke with Sparkle Pools and Control Sentries for allowing us to use their office space to participate in the virtual match!
- On Feb 22nd and 24th Centennials GirlsInSTEM Club ran the Elephant Toothpaste room at Spaulding STEM academy. It was fun to see younger students' eyes light up when they got to do their own experiments! Some of them are future Patriots!

CHS National Honor Society
Our CHS National Honor Society chapter is collecting donations for the Idaho Humane Society. IHS cares for a variety of animals including cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, rats, hamsters, etc., so they can use a wide variety of items! It is currently kitten season so dry cat/kitten food is at the top of their need list, but they can always use the following:
- Canned cat/kitten food
- Canned dog/puppy food
- Kitten milk replacer
- Puppy pads
- Peanut butter (Xylitol free! Xylitol is toxic for dogs)

It is designed to mirror the structure and operation of its respective state government, while providing training in practical citizenship, leadership, and character development through a non-partisan perspective.
- SOPHOMORES, if you are a student who exhibits leadership qualities, come to the Career Center for more information to get involved with the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership program!

Reminder from the School Nurse
We are excited to offer Centennial High School students an option for dental cleaning services. West Ada School District and the Family Medical Residency of Idaho have teamed together to open a pediatric dental clinic serving children in the West Ada School District that do not have Medicaid or private dental insurance. The clinic is located on the Meridian Elementary School campus. It offers no cost dental cleanings to qualifying students.
- Students are allowed and encouraged to carry and self-administer a one day’s dose of over the counter (OTC) medication such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen or Tums with parental consent. Medication must be in original packaging or container and can be stored in student’s locker or backpack.
- For students needing to take and store prescription or other medication in the health office, please make certain that it is in a properly labeled prescription bottle or original container. A medication consent form must also be completed yearly by the parent and on file in the health office for delivery of medication.

Centennial Job Opportunities
The West Ada School District is actively looking for dedicated, caring, and compassionate paraprofessionals to join our special education team assisting students within both general and special education classrooms. You will be working with students to provide them the supplemental academic, social and/or behavior support they need.
