A Moment With Mrs. O'Donnell
Dear Attea Families,
This week has felt like summer! How wonderful it was to see the sun and feel the warm breezes. At this time of school year, our goal is to stay focused on school and doing our personal best! I am going to focus on the our BE theme….
BE SAFE…
BE RESPECTFUL
BE RESPONSIBLE
BE SAFE…Personal safety is important. Please ensure students are wearing clothes that cover their stomachs and private body parts. I know wearing “short” shorts and tops is fashionable; however, in the school environment, we want our students to wear clothing that makes everyone feel comfortable and able to focus in class. We appreciate your help with this. Next week the temperatures are due to go down significantly. Please help your child to choose outfits that allow them to be comfortable when they are out for recess.
BE RESPECTFUL...The best way for students to set themselves up for an awesome school day is to BE ON TIME! When students arrive to school after teachers have begun class it is often disruptive to the flow of instruction. We are noticing a significant uptick in the number of students who are not in their first class by 8:15am. Of course, we all run late from time to time. However, students who consistently have unexcused tardies, more than 5 times a Trimester, will begin to receive consequences. So, make a plan - set an alarm, pack your bag, set out early in case of traffic - and BE on time.
BE RESPONSIBLE…Many more students are riding bikes to school. What a fabulous way to enjoy the fresh air and get quality exercise! All students must lock up their bikes on an Attea bike rack(do not use Park Center racks) to ensure they are secure during the school day. Attea is situated on a beautiful park next to a park district building. Many people utilize the areas around us. Locking up bikes to a rack is essential!
We are ready to finish the year strong at Attea and rise up to make SAFE, RESPECTFUL, and RESPONSIBLE decisions. Our staff is working hard to create fun experiences for the end of the school year. We would like all students to be able to participate in our end-of-year celebrations and our Trimester 3 Spirit Assembly. Please continue to have conversations with your child to make choices that impact our school and others in positive ways!
Go Flyers!
