As we reflect upon what we have accomplished in support of ensuring student learning during the first semester, I want to start by saying "thank you" for your support of TSD within these unprecedented times. Although many things have occurred that have created difficulties within our work in educating your child and/or children, I want you to know about several positive learning opportunities that your students may be engaged in within their classrooms!
Middle School/High School: Developing consistency in expectations. i.e. "Must Do's" and "Can Do's" to support student choice and voice in how they demonstrate what they are learning
Middle Schools/High Schools: Using a common platform and consistent set-up in Google Classroom across each school
Middle School and High Schools: Learning Targets and Success Criteria so that students know clearly what’s expected from them in regards to what is being taught during each day and how they can demonstrate what they have learned each day
Middle Schools/Some High Schools: "Do Now" and "Ticket out the Doors" to determine where learning should start and what should be re-taught from previous learning to ensure students are ready for current and future learning
Middle Schools: Consistent use and monitoring of I-Ready reading and math, as well as using diagnostic assessment to plan with teachers how to meet individual student needs in core content classes
As we head into the second semester, please know that this work will continue to develop. This will help us to support our students with consistency and structure so that they understand clearly what is expected from them as it relates to their learning, no matter if we are remote, hybrid, or in-person. Please know that we are all committed to your student’s growth and achievement!
