Message from the Principal
Dear Viking families,
We received our Panorama survey results and I wanted to share the summary of results. We have much to celebrate a couple of areas to focus on as a team.
Areas of celebration:
- 82% of our students stated they have Supportive Relationships at VVMS (60th-79th percentile)
- 60% of our students expressed having a Growth Mindset (80th-99th percentile)
- 84% of our students expressed that the school is fair, diverse, and integrated for students from different races, ethnicities, or cultures (80th-99th percentile)
- 70% of our students expressed that they are physically and psychologically safe at school (80th-99th percentile)
Areas of focus:
- 50% of our students believe they can succeed in achieving academic outcomes (20th-39th percentile)
- 47% of our students feel they are valued as members of the school community (20th-39th percentile)- this area also has a 5% increase over previous assessments
What does this mean:
We will continue to engage with our students as people, welcome all students to our school and classrooms with kindness and a smile, and focus on building self-efficacy and inclusion through our Character Strong curriculum, clear learning targets, and scaffolding curriculum for confidence. We are very proud of our successes and continue to grow in pursuit of excellence.
We are all thankful for your partnership,
Eric Cahan
VVMS Principal
Thank you Valley View Parents!
Partner with us for healthy schools
In the last several weeks we have had several students coming to school with symptoms of respiratory and other illness. Because these illnesses spread quickly through the classroom, we are asking you to observe the following guidelines when deciding whether to send your child to school.
Please keep your child home if they have:
- A fever (>100.4 F) or chills. Your child should stay home for 24 hours after the fever is gone, without taking fever-reducing medication (ie.Tylenol/Advil);
- A cough, muscle or body aches, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell;
- Significant congestion or runny nose, sore throat, reddened eyes, green or yellow drainage from the nose;
- Fatigue or headache;
- Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea (24 hours free - before returning to school).
If your child has any of the above symptoms, please reach out to your health care provider. It is encouraged that those with symptoms be tested for COVID-19. If testing positive, please reach out to your school nurse/health room for further guidance.
One of the most effective ways to control the spread of illness in school is to keep your child home when symptoms first appear. Frequent hand washing, covering mouth/nose when coughing or sneezing, wearing masks, socially distancing, and receiving preventable vaccines, help prevent the spread of germs, viruses and illness.

Valley View Direct Give Fundraiser
Hello Valley View Parents!
The Parent Club is pleased to announce we are in full swing for the 2022-23 school year and need your help! The past few years have yielded very little in fundraising due to Covid limitations. Donations will assist us in funding things like student planners, teacher meals and snacks during conferences, holiday treats and meals for staff, support for a family meal for valley view families in need over the holidays, teacher/staff appreciation week, scholarships for GP students having attended Valley View, the 8th grade dance and more. In order to support our teachers and students, would you please consider a donation to our cause?
A generous donation of $25 per student would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for the consideration and support!
