P. J. Jacobs Weekly E-Blast
Friday, October 2nd
We had a great week!!!
The October newsletter is now available on-line. Please refer to it regarding children’s attendance and COVID symptoms and other special school procedures during this uncertain school year. (Paper copies will only be sent to the parents that have contacted me and requested it.)
Our website provider fixed the calendar feature on the front page. So, now you can see the next 10 scheduled school events on the lower left hand side of the screen on your computer. On your phone, just scroll down the front page of our website for the list.
Staff, students, and parents can call the Technology Help Desk at 715-345-5511, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for fast help with technology issues at school and at home.
Students who missed pictures in the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15th, will have their pictures taken at a specially arranged session. On Tuesday, October 6th, we will have a Lifetouch representative available during these student’s afternoon Phy Ed classes. Their permanent food service cards/student ID’s will be furnished shortly after their pictures are taken.
The permanent food service cards/student ID’s have been distributed to students this week. It is important for your child not to lose this card as it is used for quick cafeteria check-out. If your child was absent during picture days, picture retakes will take place on Monday, November 2nd, (Cohort A), and Friday, November 6th, (Cohort B) from 7:45 AM to approximately 9:00 AM. (*Flexible E-Learners will have their ID’s placed in their picture packets or kept in the main office if no pictures were ordered.)
School pictures arrived and will be distributed in Phy Ed next week.
Letters were sent to all parents that have not yet completed the “1:1 Student Device Agreement” for their child(ren). (*A separate form must be completed for each child.) We must have this form completed no later than Thursday, October 22nd to ensure your child’s device will not be disabled on Friday, October 23rd.
ADDRESS CHANGES must go through the district office. Any address changes require verification of address through an official document. (i.e. drivers license, utility bill, …) Please send your backup documentation in an email to either aamick@pointschools.net or cchoronz@pointschools.net. You may also take this documentation to our Student Services district office at 1900 Polk St.
E-learners or any students for that matter, can renew library books by emailing Ms. Helbach, bhelbach@pointschools.net or Mrs. Omernik, lomernik@pointschools.net. Library books can be renewed for an additional two weeks.
The publication status of the 2020-2021 yearbook is currently being discussed. The yearbook advisor, principal, and yearbook vendor are in the process of making that determination. As soon as anything is decided, you will hear about it here in the weekly eblast. Currently, there is no yearbook to be purchased for this coming school year.
The governor’s mask mandate has been extended to Saturday, November 21st. All district buildings require face coverings/masks, social distancing, and sanitizing hands. The school district policy is approved through November 4th and is treated separately from the Governor’s Order. It is evaluated for COVID safety every quarter. The district’s primary goal is to preserve face-to-face educational opportunities for students and the district will continue to implement measures and tactics that give us the best chance of achieving that goal.
If you wish to be considered for a student fee waiver, please complete this form (one per child) and return it to the school office. Thank you.
Parents/Guardians with students receiving special education services via an IEP: If your student is currently receiving special education services through an Individual Education Plan (IEP) please know that you can access their IEP through Skyward. As you know, IEPs were recently updated with parent/guardian due to our current public health pandemic (COVID) and the current Stevens Point Area School District delivery models. You can access your student's IEP by logging into Skyward, opening the Family Access tab, and locating the “Student Services” tab on the left hand side. It is under the Student Services tab that you can see IEPs and evaluations. If you have any difficulties please contact Mary, the School Psychologist, at 715 345-5661 and she will help you.
When you are picking your child up for an appointment, please call us from your car and we will send your child out to you. We are trying to minimize traffic from outside the school. Thank you for your consideration.
We’re hiring!!! We have part-time work opportunities across the district. You can choose to work in positions ranging from 3 - 7 hours a day as a substitute in food service, custodial maintenance, relief bus driver, or special education educational assistant. Click here to apply in WECAN.
