School District 622
January 8, 2021 - Elementary Learning Model Update
Dear 622 Elementary Families,
Welcome to 2021! While 2020 was a year like we have never experienced before, we have hope that 2021 will begin to return us to a sense of normalcy. With that, I want to remind you that we are thrilled to start welcoming back preschool and elementary school students to in-person learning later this month.
Please see the information below as we continue to prepare for in-person instruction. If your child is remaining in the 622 Online learning format (distance learning), expect to follow a schedule similar to your current schedule.

Health and Safety
Air purifiers have been placed in each learning space/classroom.
Masks are still required for students and staff.
Masks are required during phy ed and any recess held indoors
Plexiglass shields have been purchased as an added barrier during small group instruction.
Breakfast will mostly be grab and go each morning.
Lunch will be determined at each site based on space but will follow the MN Department of Health and Education's safety expectations.
Technology
All in-person students should bring their computer devices to and from school each day. Students should bring their devices fully charged as there will be limited space inside the classroom to charge devices.
Although teachers will return to more traditional face-to-face instruction, Seesaw and technology will still be included in lessons.
While we still have final details to work out, like class lists, etc., please understand that all of the planning is based on the information we know at this time. We will still need to be prepared to shift to a more restrictive model if our local data warrants. This could include transitioning entire classrooms or even schools to distance learning if COVID cases increase inside or outside our school buildings.
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and flexibility as we navigate this school year. As I have said from the beginning, we really are all in this together. I am excited that we are moving in the direction of our preschool and elementary school students returning to in-person learning.
Finally, if you have a student in ECSE or preschool, look for a separate communication directly from the early childhood staff.
Warm Regards,
Christine Tucci Osorio
Superintendent
