Sept. 14 Board meeting and open forum information
The Board of Education will host its regularly scheduled September meeting on Monday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at the District Office. Please note, due to social distancing, in-person seating will be limited to 30. Patrons are encouraged to tune in virtually through the district’s livestream option. Livestream links are posted on the district website the day of the board meeting.
Updates to Open Forum
Open Forum occurs at every regularly scheduled monthly board meeting and provides one hour (approx. 20 participants; 3 minutes each) of allotted time on the agenda for individuals to address the board. In an effort to provide safe, socially distanced opportunities, the district has expanded open forum options. Patrons may address the board during open forum in-person, remotely or can submit comments in writing to be read. If you would like to address the board, you must complete an Open Forum Request Form online. Request forms will open at noon one business day prior to the scheduled meeting and will close at noon on the day of the board meeting or once speaker capacity has been reached.
The online Open Forum Request Form for the Sept. 14 meeting will be posted on the district website at noon on Friday, Sept. 11, along with additional information and instructions for each open forum format (in-person, remote, written). For more information, visit www.bluevalleyk12.org/BOE.
Important update to drive-thru pickup meal service for remote learners starting Sept. 14
Blue Valley’s Food and Nutrition Services is pleased to share an update to the district’s drive-thru meal pick-up process for remote learners that will help create a more streamlined process. Starting Sept. 14, families will no longer be asked to pre-order meals online. Instead, families will be provided breakfast and lunch meals from a pre-set menu upon arrival at one of the five drive-thru sites - all you have to do is show up!
We realize some families may have already pre-ordered meals for the week of Sept 14. Please disregard those meal orders and follow the revised drive-thru process.
PICK-UP DATES/TIMES
Meal pick-up will be from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. As a reminder, this drive-thru service applies to dates when students are learning remotely. On dates students are learning in-person, they will have the opportunity to participate in the meal service program at school as usual or bring a sack lunch.
On Mondays, you will receive up to 3 days of breakfast and lunch meals.
On Wednesdays, you will receive up to 3 days of breakfast and lunch meals.
Meals will be packaged to maintain food quality. Refrigeration or freezing of some items will be required and some minimal cooking may be required. Cooking instructions will be provided as needed.
LOCATIONS
There is no need to pre-order or select a location ahead of time. You can pick up meals at any one of the following school sites based on what is most convenient for you:
Blue Valley Academy (7500 W 149th Ter.)
Meal pick-up will be in the west parking lot

COST
Blue Valley was approved for funding by the USDA for ALL students, regardless of eligibility, to receive free breakfast and lunch meals through Dec. 30, 2020 or until funding runs out. You do not need to apply to receive the free meals under this special USDA funding program.
When this special USDA funding program ends, meals will be charged to your student's meal account according to the student’s eligibility: free, reduced or paid. Because funding is limited, it is strongly encouraged for you to add funds to your child’s account to ensure they have a positive meal balance once USDA funding ends. In addition, families should continue to submit an updated free/reduced meals application if there is any change in household size or income. Please visit the Free and Reduced webpage for more information on how to apply.
BV COVID Dashboard
The safety of Blue Valley students and staff continues to be a top priority. In an effort to keep our school communities fully informed, the district will provide weekly updates indicating confirmed positive COVID-19 cases as reported to the school/district on the BV COVID Dashboard. Cases will be reported by district and school.
The BV COVID Dashboard will be updated each Friday, beginning Sept. 18 with district-wide and school-specific data from Thursday-Wednesday of the week prior. In order to best protect privacy, we will combine student and staff data and will not include identifying information about the individuals who test positive.
