The Panda Post
Summer 2021
Message from the Principal
Dear Westbrook Families,
We know that there will certainly be some challenges this year but our primary aim is to keep our staff and students in school with a full, regular schedule of in-person teaching and learning as much as possible, in the safest environment possible. Thank you in advance for your flexibility and understanding as we navigate this school year.
Westbrook is currently undergoing a massive addition/renovation thanks to a community approved referendum for $119 million to allow District 34 to repair, replace and update our buildings. This summer Westbrook has seen the addition of a new playground along Lake Avenue and the start of an addition that will allow for full day kindergarten to begin for the 2022-2023 school year!
There is much enthusiasm and excitement surrounding the upcoming school year. We are excited to welcome all students back to in person instruction and look forward to building our school community here at Westbrook. We know that there is currently a wide range of educational experiences for all students and we look forward to meeting students at their level to provide support in all areas! As always, if there is anything we can do to help support you, your student or your family please reach out!
Warmly,
Patrick Hoeft
Principal

From the Health Office
Absences
Please phone all absences in between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. The Health Office number is 847-657-2494. All children must be kept home from school until they are fever free for 24 hours.
The District asks that all school immunizations and physicals be completed and returned prior to the first day of school. Remember, polio and DPT booster shots must have been given after the 4th birthday and the measles vaccine after 15 months of age. Children must have 2 doses of the measles vaccine before the start of school. State law also mandates that incoming kindergartners must have immunization for chicken pox.
If your child requires medication at school, it must be in its labeled pharmacy container.
A medication form must be completed with a doctor’s signature. Forms can be found on the district website under the “Parent” drop down menu. Scroll down to “Frequently Used Forms” and “Authorization and Permission for Administration of Medication”.
As always, we welcome donations of extra clothing such as shorts, sweatpants, t-shirts, and socks to the health office.
Car Drop Off/Pick Up
Please be patient as the first few weeks as we all are starting a new routine!
