Back to School!
Salisbury Community School moves into 22-23!
From the Principal's Desk: Welcome to a Year of Opportunity!
I hope you have had good summers, and there have been opportunities to relax or enjoy some favorite summer activities. Summer begins to turn to fall, though, and with that in mind I am excited to welcome you back to Salisbury Community School for the 2022-2023 school year! Whether you have already been part of the SCS community, or if you are new to SCS, I welcome you to a school year that is ripe with opportunity. As schools continue to move out of pandemic protocols, and the distancing of community that we all experienced over the past few years continues to fade, we have a real opportunity to build something even stronger, where we keep all the great traditions of our past while reimagining some of what we do to match the opportunities and needs of today.
I'm exited for us all to take this journey together, and very thrilled to welcome the children of SCS to their school!
Best,
Bjarki Sears

Drop off changes!
School will begin on Wednesday, August 31st. The doors to the school will open at 7:30 for a prompt start of our school day at 7:45.
We are going to be changing the morning drop-off a little bit, so families can through drop-off more quickly:
- The bus circle will be reserved for buses- cars should all enter the main parking lot for drop-off.
- We will still have staff members greeting students at the sidewalk, but it will no longer be necessary to have a staff member help every student exit their cars. Parents are welcome to walk their students up to the sidewalk- in fact, for safety, we ask that any students who walk across the parking lot be accompanied by a parent.
- We will be using two entrances this year: K-1 on the far left by the playground (the same as last year) and grades 2-5 will be using the main entrance.
- Students arriving prior to 7:30 will be asked to wait in their cars until 7:30.
- Students will be dismissed at 2:45 pm. Students departing by car are dismissed at the upper parking lot. If a student is picked up early, they must be signed out at the front desk. Please be sure to include the reason the child needed to leave early.
Reminder: Please send in your forms on the first day!
If you need new copies, please contact Donna Simpson, SCS Administrative Assistant, at dsimpson@acsdvt.org.
Goodbye to Nurse Gina!
Join FOSCS!
We are all very lucky to have Friends of Salisbury Community School, our parent teacher organization (PTO). A solid PTO is really powerful for a school, especially an elementary school, and they really impact students’ lives and well-being more than most people realize. We cannot say enough about the impact FOSCS can have on kids’ experiences at school, and the more people get involved the easier the work is, and the more we can accomplish. To get involved in FOSCS, please reach out to Principal Sears at bsears@acsdvt.org, or to Shauna Riley, FOSCS chair, at shauna1200@yahoo.com. We’d both be happy to help you get involved!
