Mission Trail Elementary
Sunday Update for April 4, 2021
Good morning MTE families,
I hope this email finds you well on this beautiful weekend! I have planted a bit, weeded a bit, and enjoyed my new propane fire coffee table on my deck. What a glorious weekend. Traditionally, I have usually hosted a large family-filled weekend event at my house, but not this year. We are COVID19 impacted so it has a been a bit quiet, but very relaxing!
This week we kick off our spring virtual bookfair! Spring into Adventure with a Good Book! Mrs. Jones, our librarian, will work with each class and help the children find the books that interest them! Thank you to our PTO volunteers, Mrs. Houlehan and Mrs. Chadiha, who make this possible for the children.
Kindergarten Round-UP week is finally here! This Friday, our newest bulldogs will be joining the kindergarten teachers and our team for a visit into the classrooms to get a taste of kindergarten. If you know someone who has a kindergartner and has not yet signed up, please have them contact the office.
I am also very appreciative of our PTO and all the work on the Bulldog Bolt! The funds directly impact our school, and the enthusiasm is appreciated! The children are very hopeful and excited that I may be sporting a new hair color.
Registration for 2021-2022 school year is now open for all families! Please DO go on and register as soon as possible. As most of you are aware, our paid enrollment determines teacher placement. The pandemic has affected many families. If you need to work out a payment plan, please contact Mrs. Durham. You can reach her at 913 239-6712 or you can email her at LADurham@bluevalleyk12.org. She will keep all financial information confidential. It is not shared with staff. Even if you can’t fully pay fees, it is important that you still register so we can retain our amazing teachers.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or celebrations to share – please contact me.
“It is a great day to be a bulldog!”

**MARK YOUR CALENDARS TO BOLT THE WEEKEND OF MAY 7-9**
This year’s Bulldog Bolt will be a virtual one mile or 5k run/walk to fundraise for MTE while celebrating wellness and community. Both routes start and end at MTE and do not cross major roads. Students and families may run/walk a mile or 5K at any time over the weekend. Please note that this year’s Bolt will not be chipped/timed and instead focus on wellness, fun, and togetherness.
The virtual Bolt allows each family to decide how their family would like to participate safely. Some families may want to join with other families to race one another or some families might enjoy doing it on their own. The weekend is also Mother’s Day weekend – what a great opportunity to start a new Mother’s Day tradition!
We’re working hard to make this route FUN and engaging with signs of encouragement, creative chalk art, and a fun selfie backdrop at MTE so participants can document their race day finish! We encourage families to share their participation through pictures and videos on social media using #MTEBOLT21.
2021 Bulldog Bolt Corporate Sponsorships
