Message from the Principal
Hello Barracuda Families,
Online Assessments:
Over the first weeks of school, your child's teacher has started to assess their learning needs. Students in grades 1-5 have, or will be asked shortly to complete the universal Fastbridge screener assessments online. Our youngest barracudas may require some support in logging in. Please reference this video for login guidance.
Once your child has been logged in, please allow them to complete the assessment independently and encourage them to do the best they can. By directly assisting them, the results will be skewed and the identified areas for teacher support will not be accurate. The data from these assessments is important as teachers construct strategic math and reading groups.
9.23-Distribution:
On Wednesday, 9.23, Bagby will host its next distribution of student materials. Further details will be communicated out next week.
County Health Conditions and Schools:
As many of you are already aware, this week Santa Clara County was moved to Tier III (red) of the statewide COVID-19 classification system. Later today, Dr. Andrews will be updating the entire CSD community about this shift.
Principal Coffee:
Next Tuesday, I will be hosting a virtual Principal's Coffee beginning at 8:30 AM on Zoom. I intend to discuss updates regarding Multiple Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), education tech tools your child may be using during distance learning, budgeting priorities for the 20-21 school year, and revisiting CSD updates regarding phased in reopening. Please RSVP Here by 12:00 PM Monday 9.15.20 in order to receive your Zoom invitation.
Have a safe weekend,
Michael

YOU CAN HELP SUPPORT CAMBRIAN STUDENTS and ENDORSE CAMBRIAN LAND DEVELOPMENT
The Cambrian School District has been in the process of assessing potential land redevelopment of District-owned properties as a new ongoing revenue stream to support our students, programs, and District. After evaluating multiple options, we identified the Metzler Elementary School at Cambrianna Drive as a promising opportunity to convert a portion of this site into an ongoing revenue stream. The proposed development matches and complements the character of the neighborhood.
The proposed housing development project for the Cambrian School district will generate ongoing revenue that will support CSD’s outstanding programs. Please join Cambrian parents, teachers, and neighbors and click here to sign a letter of support asking the City of San Jose to approve the District’s general plan amendment application.
For more information about the Cambrian School District’s “Support Our Students” land development initiative, please check out our webpage or contact former Cambrian School District parent Eve Walton at SOSCambrianSchoolDistrict@gmail.com. Stay informed on the Initiative, please sign up for our mailing list by clicking here.

Daily Attendance - Distance Learning
In accordance with California State Ed. Code attendance during distance learning will be taken daily. Students are required to logon and check in each day with their teachers. Please make sure your student(s) sign into their Zoom meeting a few minutes early. If your child is not able to sign in to their Zoom class, please call or email the front office and let us know what the reason is. Daily absences need to be verified and parents will be contacted.
