McDill Elementary Parent Newsletter
October 2022
Hello Timberwolf Families,
The first month of school is in the books and we are off to a great start! It has been an exciting and eventful beginning to our year. Our students have been enjoying getting to use the new playground equipment and new cafeteria. We were able to host Grandparents' / Special Friends' Day again this year. It was wonderful getting to spend time together with everyone who was able to attend. Our new 4K program has been an outstanding addition. These new students bring such a positive energy with them everyday!
I want to say a big thank you to all of our stakeholders - families, students and staff. Having a successful school year requires a team effort, and I feel very fortunate to get to work with our McDill school community. I’m excited to see what the future holds for us as we continue to learn and grow together, starting with some fun events planned for the month of October:
- Fire Prevention Day - October 11th
- All-School Field Day & Playground Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony - Octobr 14th
- Green Apple Day of Service - October 21st
- Annual Trunk or Treat Event - October 26th
(More information will come home soon from the McDill Student Council)
Joe Sbertoli, Principal

FEW QUICK NOTES / REQUESTS / MENUS
- The first car in the turnaround line in both the morning and the afternoon should pull up to the black sign so that we can safely help as many students as possible get in and out of their vehicles.
Secondly, if you have not already paid your child's Student Fees and/or Semester Milk Fee, please do so as soon as possible. Envelopes for both of these fees will be coming home again soon if you have not paid. A Fee Waiver is linked here and is also available in the office, if your family qualifies for such. Please contact the office with any questions.
- Student Fees - $20 (KN-4th) and $35 (5th-6th)
- Semester Snack Milk Fee - $30/Student
Thirdly, the library is looking for a few adult volunteers to help change our Storywalk in October? It would take around 2 hours or less on one of the following days:
October 19th or the 20th or the 21st.
- If interested, please contact Paula Worzella at pworzell@pointschools.net.
And finally, a hard copy of the October breakfast and lunch menus will be sent home with your youngest and only child at McDill today, but here are links to both:

. . COMMON SENSE MEDIA . .
The secret to becoming a better parent for digital age kids
Do you ever wonder if the apps, games, movies, and books your children consume online and on their devices are safe and age-appropriate? It is not a secret. Common Sense Media is a trusted resource for thousands of schools and families. They provide reviews of apps, games, books, movies, and T.V. shows for parents that give clear information to parents about content, safety, and privacy. The Stevens Point Area Public School District relies heavily on these reviews when selecting library materials and educational resources. You can find reviews for most digital materials online at https://www.commonsensemedia.org/
