A Note from the Director
Fall Break is almost here. Many of you may already have plans for the two weeks our kids are out of school, but in case you're still looking for things to do, here are some free or low-cost activities that are fun for families and will get you out into the fresh fall air.
- Visit a new playground. If you want to avoid mud and mess, you can try out the central Indiana playgrounds on this list.
- Take a family hike at the Marian University EcoLab. The trails are great for birdwatching and you might even see a beaver if you're there at dawn or dusk!
- Check out Hunter's Honey Farm in Martinsville, where you can take a tour and learn about beekeeping and honey production. You can even fill your own bear bottle of honey to take home.
- On a Saturday night (October 7, 14, 21), check out Nehemiah Ranch in Avon for their Fall Harvest Days Festival, with hayrides, hot dogs, s'mores, and hot chocolate. Donations are requested but not required to attend.
- Drive out to North Salem, IN to visit the McCloud Nature Park and check out the giant Prairie Maze. It's a squirrel this year and it's free to visit!
- Head to Trafalgar, IN to check out The Apple Works orchard and pumpkin patch. Free activities include a petting zoo, a super slide and a bamboo maze.
Most of all, I would encourage you to find time to enjoy just being with your child. And, of course, read, read, read!
-Mrs. Susan Bryant

Preschool Vision Screenings
Operation KidSight, a wonderful program of the Lions Clubs of Indiana, will be coming to Liberty Preschool on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. This is a very simple screening and can detect the presence of eye disorders in children ages 1-6. There are no medicines used for this screening and your child will not experience any kind of discomfort. The screening is free and has been paid for by the Lions Clubs of Indiana. Early detection of vision problems enables early intervention, which is essential for academic success.
If you want your child to participate in this simple vision screening, you must complete the Parent Consent form sent home in your child's backpack and sign your name at the bottom of the form. Please send your form back by October 24th.
