Mission Trail Elementary
Sunday Update for April 18, 2021
Good morning MTE families,
Friday was so fun with everyone sporting a moustache! What a great student generated spirit day! Thank you Selser family for making it happen.
Spring is definitely here this year! As the children are wearing jackets intermittently, our lost and found is growing! Please encourage your child to check the Lost and Found in the front hall to see if any missing items are their items!
Registration for 2021-2022 school year is now open for all families! Please DO go on and register as soon as possible. As most of you are aware, our paid enrollment determines teacher placement. The pandemic has affected many families. If you need to work out a payment plan, please contact Mrs. Durham. You can reach her at 913 239-6712 or you can email her at LADurham@bluevalleyk12.org. She will keep all financial information confidential. It is not shared with staff. Even if you can’t fully pay fees, it is important that you still register so we can retain our amazing teachers.
Next Friday, we do not have students at school. It is a professional learning day for staff. We will be learning more about the Science of Reading, as mandate by the state. This is valuable learning for all staff and I am excited.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or celebrations to share – please contact me.
“It is a great day to be a bulldog!”

Bolt Battles have BEGUN!!!
BOLT BATTLES is replacing bolt buddies this year. We have created a grade level competition for the kids to engage their friends and family to help raise funds for the PTO. Each grade level has a goal based on the number of students in their grade and they will compete for whole grade PRIZES! You do not have to participate in the Bulldog bolt to participate in BOLT BATTLES. Our PTO website has made it simple to create an individual web page for your child to receive donations through. These pages are private, customizable and easy to share!
Each year our PTO funds a variety of enhancements for MTE from upgrading playground equipment to funding educational events like science-on-wheels. Also, the PTO contributes to helping and showing appreciation for our wonderful teachers. If any year has shown us what a precious resource they are, it has been this year. Let’s show our gratitude and support MTE!!!

**MARK YOUR CALENDARS TO BOLT THE WEEKEND OF MAY 7-9**
This year’s Bulldog Bolt will be a virtual one mile or 5k run/walk to fundraise for MTE while celebrating wellness and community. Both routes start and end at MTE and do not cross major roads. Students and families may run/walk a mile or 5K at any time over the weekend. Please note that this year’s Bolt will not be chipped/timed and instead focus on wellness, fun, and togetherness.
The virtual Bolt allows each family to decide how their family would like to participate safely. Some families may want to join with other families to race one another or some families might enjoy doing it on their own. The weekend is also Mother’s Day weekend – what a great opportunity to start a new Mother’s Day tradition!
We’re working hard to make this route FUN and engaging with signs of encouragement, creative chalk art, and a fun selfie backdrop at MTE so participants can document their race day finish! We encourage families to share their participation through pictures and videos on social media using #MTEBOLT21.
2021 Bulldog Bolt Corporate Sponsorships
Our Bolt committee is planning an awesome Bulldog Bolt during the weekend of May 7-9th! The Bulldog Bolt corporate sponsorship team has worked hard on putting together new sponsorship tiers, which will give our business/foundation sponsors the recognition and appreciation they deserve! Please share with friends this awesome opportunity to give a tax-deductible donation to our wonderful MTE, while also taking advantage of a tremendous opportunity to make our community aware of their generous business.
