With the lifting of Johnson County’s stay-at-home order on May 11, the district has developed plans for the end-of-the-school-year student checkout, including the retrieval of personal items and return of school items. In order to maintain proper social distancing and mass gathering guidelines, the district has established the following schedule:
Check your email for additional school-specific pick up details from school principals the week of May 18. Please note that schools currently under construction will not be able to pick up personal items at this time.
Blue Valley announces plan to honor and celebrate the Class of 2020
The Class of 2020 has earned a celebratory send-off, just like the seniors who came before them. From our ThoughtExchange to school and district-wide committees, students provided thoughtful and meaningful feedback into what type of celebration was important to them—a face-to-face graduation opportunity. And so, we plan to send them off to their next chapter with a proper celebration!
BOE approves Strategic Plan
At the May Board of Education meeting, Blue Valley’s board approved the district’s newest strategic plan that will guide our work to Reimagine BV through the year 2025. The process of developing the strategic plan has been a collaborative one, with input from students, families, staff, and community members alike.
The new strategic plan builds on the work and successes of the district’s past, while also incorporating the goals and feedback our community has shared with us through the planning process. Academic achievement and personal excellence continue to surface as important cornerstones for Blue Valley, as well as an increased emphasis for students to learn life skills, social-emotional competencies, habits of mind and dispositions - skills that complement the academic setting but also have value outside of the classroom. This balance between academic excellence, a focus on the whole child and life-readiness is represented in the district’s newly revised mission statement. The full strategic plan is available on the district website for more information.
