Preparing for Next Year
Updates For The End of This Year and Beginning of Next Year
As we approach the end of another successful year, we wanted to reach out with updates on items that impact the end of this year and the beginning of next.
Chromebooks: Due to the instrumental volume of damages that occurred with Chromebooks this year, students will be handing their devices in next week so we can assess further damages and get an inventory of functional Chromebooks going into next year. Right now our plan is to have charging stations back in classrooms next year so that it limits student handling of devices to the the rooms they are housed.
Middle School Handbook Consistency: We are in the process of creating one handbook for both middle schools to make sure there is consistency in policies and follow-up processes. Dress code and cell phone usage are the most consistent violations we see so please make sure you are aware of the guidelines for those items prior to next year.
AVID: Some of you have seen or heard about AVID being implemented in Kuna School District. AVID is a program that provides students with the skills to help them be more successful in school. The long-term goal of the program is to help students better prepare for college and career readiness. You can find more information about AVID here: https://www.avid.org/what-avid-is
No Lockers: Both middle schools will not be using lockers next year. Students are encouraged to minimize the size of their backpack as the required supplies for classes is minimal. Exceptions will be made for those with documented medical conditions where a locker is prescribed as an accommodation.
PowerSchool: The district is adopting a new Student Information System called PowerSchool. This is replacing our Tyler system, will be more user friendly, and connects with our current communication and Schoology programs. You'll get login and operation directions in the fall.
Have an amazing summer!
