Mission Trail Elementary
Sunday Update for January 17, 2021
Good morning MTE families,
I hope you are all enjoying the long weekend! Today is the big Chiefs game as we enter the playoffs this afternoon! I have on my lucky earrings.
While the students were home Friday, certified staff participated in some professional learning on Friday morning and teachers prepared grade cards on Friday afternoon. We are all off on Monday in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Tuesday, we begin second semester. We have very little movement from our virtual and in-person fall enrollment. We will have about 18 children move back to in-person learning as we begin second semester.
As many of you are aware, we did send home quite a few COVID19, low-risk exposure letters last week due to students or staff learning they had testing positive or were considered presumed positive and had been at school prior to knowing they were positive. We will always send notification when we learn of a positive case of COVID19 was at school during the contagion period. If you have questions, please do call or email. We are happy to answer any questions we can.
Families, we do still continue to have some confusion about when to keep your child home from school. If anyone (including adults) in your house is experiencing COVID19 symptoms or if a student had contact with a COVID19 exposure, please do keep your child home and call Donna Anderson (our school nurse) at 913 239-6713. We can help you navigate the guidelines for keeping your child at home. If it is safe to send them, we will let you know. We do want students at school; however, it is very important we continue to follow the safety guidelines. Thank you very much for your cooperation. Together, we minimize the transmission at school, limit unnecessary exposure, and keep our MTE family as safe as possible.
Kindergarten News! It is the time of year when we begin to collect information about our incoming Kindergarten class for the 2021-2022 school year. Please let your neighbors know that if they have a child who will attend kindergarten next year, we would love to include them in our upcoming virtual kindergarten meeting. Families can click this link or go to the website and provide us their contact information. Thanks for sharing so we can properly plan for next year.
As always, if you have any questions, comments or celebrations to share – please contact me.

GO CHIEFS!
