SPRING PLAY AUDITIONS
Auditions for the BHS Drama Club's Spring Play will be held next Friday, January 13th in the PAC, 2:30-4:00pm. This year's chosen spring play is the Pulitzer Prize winner, Our Town by Thornton Wilder. To participate in auditions, students should be prepared to tell a joke and to read from the script with other student actors. STUDENT BLOOD DRIVE
The Sports Medicine Club along with Bloodworks NW will be hosting a school BLOOD DRIVE. But wait, there's more! Why should students consider donating? PRIZES, GIFTS and knowing that you have the potential to save up to three people’s lives with each individual donation. The blood drive is happening next Friday, January 13th, 8:00AM-1:30PM in the Senior Commons, by appointment only. BHS Staff and Students are invited to donate, but this blood drive is closed to parents and other community members. Students ages 16+ are eligible to participate, and those who are 16 or 17 years old must complete a permission slip with parent/guardian signature (stop by the sign up table at lunch). Donor requirements include: being in good health, weighing at least 110lbs and haven’t already donated blood within the past 56 days.
LOCAL STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES
Would you love a memorable experience that looks amazing on your applications? The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma is accepting applications for their Zoo Guide program. Applications close on January 9th. For more details click here.
The Blue Ribbon Scholarship is for high school seniors, sponsored by the Washington State Fair Foundation. The deadline is January 31st and there are many other opportunities for you on their page. Click here to apply.
Maybe the Seattle Aquarium is your passion? The aquarium is hosting an event on January 25th to learn about career, educational and volunteer opportunities! Come see Ms. Gambardella in the Main Office for an ORCA card, making the trip on the ferry FREE. To learn more please click here.
Scholarship season is among us and we are lucky to have many GREAT scholarships available exclusively to students in our community. Some of these opportunities are only for Bremerton students. Make your dreams come true and get help doing it. For more information, please click here.
SCHOLARSHIP MARATHON
Is your Senior planning on attending a college or university after high school and interested in scholarships? If yes, then they should attend the upcoming Scholarship Marathon! This is a great event where Mr. Swanson and other staff and community members give presentations on numerous local scholarships (some are open ONLY to BHS students!), host optional practice interviews, and provide FAFSA/scholarship application support. The SCHOLARSHIP MARATHON is going to be on Friday, Jan. 27th 8:30-11:30AM here at BHS - breakfast is included! COURSE SELECTION KNIGHT
The Bremerton High School Course Selection Knight will be Thursday, February 16th, 5:00-6:30PM in the High School Commons. Students can learn about the many programs and classes offered at Bremerton High School, watch demonstrations, and get questions answered. This program is structured to support our incoming freshmen in making informed class choices but is also beneficial for new and returning students. We hope to see you there!
SUBMIT CAP & GOWN ORDERS
Your Senior Knight students has been hearing about placing their cap & gown order in their Knight Skills class - have they mentioned it to you? The first order for Class of 2023 cap & gown orders has already been sent in; place your student's order as soon as possible via www.bremertonknights.com to guarantee their items arrive before graduation.
All students walking at the 2023 graduation are required to wear a cap, gown, tassel and stoll. A small number of caps and gowns may be reserved to borrow via your student's school Counselor, but students must order their own tassel and stoll.
FINANCIAL AID SUPPORT @ KRL
Kitsap Regional Libraries have been in partnership with Graduate Strong to support financial aid filing assistance primarily through the Financial Aid Navigator workshops. Staff trained through the Navigator workshops have been providing support through various on-site options, including "Book-a-Librarian" for one-on-one filing assistance! FAFSA & WAFSA NIGHT
FAFSA and WAFSA help is here! Parents and students are invited to join us on January 10th, 5:00-6:30PM for assistance answering financial aid questions and completing the forms, and if that's not incentive enough: food will be provided! Our wonderful Olympic College Financial Aid Outreach Specialist will be at BHS for this special event. Whether your student plans to attend Olympic College or another college or university, this is a great opportunity to receive individualized help with your financial aid application!
