Fun Run to Support Ukraine - Glen Grove Field, 10:00 am
A Note from Ms. Ellison
Dear Glen Grove Community,
Despite the weather, spring is in the air! This means that Glen Grove is incredibly busy planning end-of-the-year activities and even starting to think about next year.
Next week we will start the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) testing. We will be testing all students in Math on April 12th, 13th, and 14th, and in English/Language Arts on the 19th and 20th. Please do your best to have your child here on time each day. Our educators do an excellent job of sharing the importance of this test, while also ensuring that it is as low stress as possible.
Save the date! Our Service Club is planning a community event to show our support of Ukraine. On May 21st the Service Club will host a Community Fun Run from 10-11 on the Glen Grove field. All are welcome to attend and there will be an optional fundraising component as well. More information will be forthcoming. We are excited for this opportunity to come together as a community and are grateful to our Service Club, the PTA, Miss Burns, and Ms. Fishbain for their work on this project.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
In partnership,
Kate Ellison

All meals include milk and a variety of fruit and vegetable options.
Please note that, due to supply chain issues, all items are subject to change without notice.
The Food Services department is experiencing unprecedented staff shortages. To continue to provide meals to students in this environment, we may need to adjust to a limited menu, removing the hot entree option. This change may happen on any given day, at one or multiple schools. We will provide information to families at a particular school if this does happen, though communication may occur on short notice.
We appreciate your understanding!
From the Nurse's Office
If you need any help or support during this difficult time of the pandemic, please do not hesitate to call Jennifer Hastings, RN, our Health Coordinator, at (847) 657-2394.
All student absences should be called into the health office no later than 7:45 a.m. at (847) 657-2394. The school has voicemail so parents can call the health office to leave messages at any time.
If your children come to school after 7:45 a.m. please have them come through the front office. This is for the safety of all of our students.

News from the LRC
Virtual Author Visit
Author Margaret Peterson Haddix will be speaking to Glen Grove students on Monday, April 25. The Book Stall, an independent bookstore in Winnetka, will be selling her titles with a 10% discount passed on to the families. All books will include a signed bookplate.
The deadline to order is Friday, April 15. Click here for the order form or print and return the one below.
Go to The Book Stall Glen Grove Visit with Haddix or use the QR Code on the order form in this newsletter. If you purchase a book online, YOU DO NOT NEED TO RETURN THE COPY OF THE FORM TO SCHOOL. If you have any questions please email Mrs. Funke.
Overdue Books
Currently we have over 400 overdue books. Please help your children return their books on time. Students may renew their books one time on Destiny Discover by going to the tab, My Stuff and then Checkouts. Each title checked out has three dots to the bottom right, by clicking on them, it gives the option to renew. If there is a hold on a title, the book will not renew. Students may ask Mrs. Duby or Mrs. Funke for the title to be renewed again to finish the title.
Need a Book?
Please stop by Glen Grove School at any time to visit our Little Free Library located outside the school to the right of the front doors. Take what you need and feel free to either borrow or keep the books you choose. Do you have books you don’t need anymore? Feel free to donate them to the Little Library. We just ask that the books are in good condition for others to enjoy.

We are so excited to welcome D34 ParentConnect back in person in a big and wonderful way, with Family Connect Night on Tuesday, April 26 from 6:00-7:30pm at Glen Grove! Thank you to The Debra Gelfand Children’s Foundation for sponsoring this event.
Family Connect Night is an opportunity for children and adults to reconnect with old friends and make new social connections within their cluster. It’s a particularly great transition opportunity for second graders to attend this fun event at their new school.
There will be crafts, games and an animated short film and discussion facilitated by Beth Irwin, LPC, from Family Service Center. Boxed meals from North Branch will be provided.
Please RSVP to let us know how many members of your household will attend. Interpretation in Spanish, Mongolian and Korean will be offered (but please let us know in advance if you wish to have this service). We will follow up before the event to confirm your attendance and get your family’s dinner order. While the programming is planned for children in grades K-5, older and younger children are welcome. We don’t want anyone to miss the chance to connect!
RSVP today to let us know you’re coming,
and share it with your WB/GG friends!
