A Note from Ms. Ellison
Dear Glen Grove Community,
Although the weather might disagree, spring is in the air at Glen Grove School. We are busy with end-of-the-year activities and events with a focus on how to end the year strong at Glen Grove!
In the classroom, we just finished up our IAR testing. I am grateful to all of our teachers and students for making this a smooth low stress experience for all. The students did a great job!
We also have not one, but two assemblies coming up this week. We look forward to welcoming our author Margaret Peterson Haddix for a virtual visit on Monday and, as long as the weather cooperates, BMX biker Matt Wilhelm will come on Tuesday for a motivational, social/emotional learning assembly.
I look forward to seeing some of our Westbrook and Glen Grove families at the parent connect event on Tuesday. It will be a great opportunity for us to gather in person and get to know our school community even more.
Finally, today is Earth Day! We have shared many resources with teachers and students to learn about and celebrate this important day. Over the weekend I hope that each of you gets the opportunity to get outside and connect with nature.
Thanks for your support and partnership! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
Kate Ellison

All meals include milk and a variety of fruit and vegetable options.
Please note that, due to supply chain issues, all items are subject to change without notice.
The Food Services department is experiencing unprecedented staff shortages. To continue to provide meals to students in this environment, we may need to adjust to a limited menu, removing the hot entree option. This change may happen on any given day, at one or multiple schools. We will provide information to families at a particular school if this does happen, though communication may occur on short notice.
We appreciate your understanding!
From the Nurse's Office
If you need any help or support during this difficult time of the pandemic, please do not hesitate to call Jennifer Hastings, RN, our Health Coordinator, at (847) 657-2394.
All student absences should be called into the health office no later than 7:45 a.m. at (847) 657-2394. The school has voicemail so parents can call the health office to leave messages at any time.
If your children come to school after 7:45 a.m. please have them come through the front office. This is for the safety of all of our students.
Mandatory Health Forms for 2022-2023 Incoming 6th Graders
We are so excited to welcome D34 ParentConnect back in person in a big and wonderful way, with Family Connect Night on Tuesday, April 26 from 6:00-7:30pm at Glen Grove! Thank you to The Debra Gelfand Children’s Foundation for sponsoring this event.
Family Connect Night is an opportunity for children and adults to reconnect with old friends and make new social connections within their cluster. It’s a particularly great transition opportunity for second graders to attend this fun event at their new school.
There will be crafts, games and an animated short film and discussion facilitated by Beth Irwin, LPC, from Family Service Center. Boxed meals from North Branch will be provided.
Please RSVP to let us know how many members of your household will attend. Interpretation in Spanish, Mongolian and Korean will be offered (but please let us know in advance if you wish to have this service). We will follow up before the event to confirm your attendance and get your family’s dinner order. While the programming is planned for children in grades K-5, older and younger children are welcome. We don’t want anyone to miss the chance to connect!
RSVP today to let us know you’re coming,
and share it with your WB/GG friends!
News from the LRC
Virtual Author Visit
Glen Grove School is excited to visit with author Margaret Peterson Haddix via Zoom on the Monday afternoon of April 25. Students who ordered her books will receive them on Monday. Every classroom teacher was given a choice on one of the author’s titles for their classroom library, thanks to the generous PTA.
Overdue/Lost Books
As we approach the end of the school year, we ask that overdue/lost books be paid for by cash or check made out to Glen Grove School. If paid for books are found before May 27, we will refund your money.
Need a Book?
Please stop by Glen Grove School at any time to visit our Little Free Library located outside the school to the right of the front doors. Take what you need and feel free to either borrow or keep the books you choose. Do you have books you don’t need anymore? Feel free to donate them to the Little Library. We just ask that the books are in good condition for others to enjoy.
