September 11th
This weekend is the 21st anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and flight 93 which crashed in Pennsylvania. Thousands of Americans lost their lives in this tragedy and in the rescue and recovery efforts after the attacks. It is important that we recall and remember these events and honor those who we lost that day. But, I also want to urge you to think about and learn from the lessons we can gain from this day.
Soon after these events, people around our country and around the world showed their compassion and kindness for each other by helping save lives and supporting the families who were hurt by these events. Firefighters, police officers, and other first responders especially showed great courage in risking their own lives to save others. Americans put aside their differences by coming together and showing the power of patriotism by reaching deep into their hearts and finding the strength to help their neighbor no matter their religion, the color of their skin, or how much money they had. None of that mattered.
We must show each other kindness and compassion. We must have the courage to do the right thing – even when it may not be easy. We have to put aside differences and treat one another with respect.
I hope you will keep these thoughts in your mind not only today, but every day. Thank you for taking the time to think about these events, the lessons we can learn from them, and for honoring those who lost their lives. Treat each other with kindness, love, and respect.
E-Learning Day - September 21st
Don't forget that on September 21st, all CPCSC students will have an e-learning day. Parents can find information about student learning, attendance, and more by clicking on the button below.
On September 21st, CPCSC staff will be participating in a safety exercise called 'reunification' - an important component of our district’s safety plan. If an incident at one of our buildings should require an evacuation, we will use the Standard Reunification Method to reconnect parents with their children in an organized and secure manner. CPCSC uses the process from The “I Love U Guys” Foundation which provides resources for more than 30,000 schools, organizations, and communities around the world.
Employability Skills Survey
We want to thank our parents/guardians for being valued partners as we work together to educate our students.
While many people often think of student success in relation to grades or test scores, it is also important to consider the social and emotional growth of our students. Starting September 19th-Sept 26th , we will ask students in grades 3-12 for their feedback via a 20-30 minute online survey completed at school. The survey will ask students to reflect on their self-efficacy, emotional regulation, social awareness, and supportive relationships. The results from the survey support our ability to address individual and school-identified needs.
We have previously administered this survey as part of our Ready To Learn student services work. The data was used to implement positive behavior interventions and improve school culture and climate. We look forward to using new data from this school year to identify and align services for students.
If you have any questions about the survey or do not want your child to participate, please contact your school’s main office before September 19th. Students who opt out of the survey will still be able to participate in programs or services created as a result of the data.
Sincerely,
CPCSC Office of Curriculum and Instruction

The tryout test will consist of 50 words chosen from the first page of the word list. The top 10 students who spell the most words correctly will make the team. The digital word list can be found at:
