Dr. Hudson's Message to Families
February 28, 2022
Dear Cedar Hill ISD Families,
Thank you!
Last week, the winter weather forced us to impose an early dismissal, cancel school and implement a delayed start. I want to commend our parents, guardians and scholars for their cooperation during all the changes last week.
Longhorn Futures Committee is Looking for Members
The Cedar Hill ISD Board of Trustees and administration are convening a committee of Cedar Hill stakeholders to evaluate, assess, prioritize and report their findings on future capital project needs for CHISD.
The Longhorn Futures Committee will be made of a thorough cross-section of the CHISD community, including parents and non-parents, young adults and senior citizens, CHISD staff, CHISD scholars, Cedar Hill business owners and Cedar Hill community and civic leaders.
They’ll meet on Thursday evenings, March through June. Click here to complete the required questionnaire if you are interested in serving on the Longhorn Futures Committee.
Texas College Bridge
CHISD leaders collaborated recently to review progress and develop action plans for Texas College Bridge for juniors and seniors at Cedar Hill High School.
Through Texas College Bridge, high school juniors and seniors take online college preparatory courses, strengthening their English and math skills prior to enrolling in college and setting them on a path to postsecondary success. Texas College Bridge courses are personalized, self-paced and teacher facilitated—allowing students to focus on skills they need and skip those they have already mastered, with teacher support along the way. Students receive additional support and resources to help them complete college transition milestones.
Plus, they can earn a TSI exemption at more than 40 partnering colleges and universities
across Texas. Our partnership with Texas College Bridge supports our Student Outcome Goal # 1 which is to increase the percentage of scholars graduating college, career or military ready.
CHISD Business Office Earns Excellence in Finance Reporting Award
Congratulations to the Cedar Hill ISD Business Office! The team earned the Excellence in Finance Reporting Award from the GFOA.
GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program (COA) in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles.
The goal of the program is not to assess the financial health of participating governments, but rather to ensure that users of their financial statements have the information they need to do so themselves.
Sincerely,
Dr. Gerald B. Hudson
