Feb. 1, 2022. Awarded annually, AISLE scholarships are specifically designed to support those who are taking school library coursework leading to Illinois licensure. AISLE grants support current Illinois school librarians, those working to become school librarians, or Illinois school library programs. Please review the individual scholarship and grant pages on the AISLE website for specific terms, criteria, and eligibility requirements.

Join the 2022 AISLE Conference Program Committee on February 10 from 7-8PM to learn how to navigate the Proposal to Present form, ask questions about the application process, and get some tips on what makes a successful proposal. REGISTER TO ATTEND
Make this the year you apply to share a program, idea, or passion at the annual AISLE Conference! If you have an idea that you would like to present to your fellow Illinois school librarians at this year’s AISLE conference, we’d love to hear from you. Our conference is made better by the generous collaboration of our school librarian colleagues, so please consider submitting a proposal to present at the AISLE A.C.T. Conference this November 3-5, 2022.

2022 Youth Media Awards Announced on Monday, 1/24
The American Library Association (ALA) announce honor books, videos, and other outstanding materials for children and teens virtually on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at 8 a.m. CT during a live video stream available at https://ala.unikron.com/. (For more on the YMAs from ALA)

Call for Essays
Dr. Shannon M. Oltmann (University of Kentucky) is soliciting essays from librarians, library science faculty, and others for the new book: The Fight Against Book Bans: Perspectives from the Field. They are looking for a wide variety of essays that will comment on and address these challenges from diverse perspectives. Possibilities could include:
- Firsthand accounts of book/materials challenges
- How to prepare for, address, or respond to challenges
- Communicating with one's community about the significance of intellectual freedom
- Showing the value and merit of challenged books
- Background on the history and context of challenges or challengers
- Perspectives on challenges in public or school libraries
- Support for those facing materials challenges

Six ILA Legislative Meet-ups Scheduled
This series of six legislative events provides an opportunity to meet with your legislators and hear their thoughts firsthand about issues affecting libraries in your area. All elected officials on the state and federal level are invited. Library trustees, directors, and staff from public, school, and academic libraries are encouraged to attend and participate. February 14-17 IDEAcon (Illinois Digital Educators Alliance conference) is at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel. "This 4-day conference includes inspirational keynote speakers and hundreds of educator-led sessions focused on engaging students, building relationships, and integrating tools to foster academic achievement."

2022 Annual Library Certification Is Live
Certification is required of all library system members to qualify for continuing system services and grant programs from the State Library. The window for certification closes on March 31. Visit your library system website or L2 for more information.

Join us for our 2022 AISLE Conference, Thursday-Saturday, November 3-5, 2022, at the Tinley Park Convention Center. The theme is AISLE A.C.T. where we will focus on the foundations of the school library profession: advocacy, collaboration, and teaching.
